New Shelter For Lifelong Care Of Disabled Dogs

We are launching our exciting new campaign, which offers you a chance to provide a secure haven for our long-term shelter animals. Anyone who visits TOLFA will see that we have numerous long-term and disabled residents living on the hospital grounds. While it’s heartwarming to witness the remarkable recovery of these survivors under TOLFA’s care, it’s time for them to have their own dedicated space where their specific needs can be met.

The new shelter will provide spacious shaded areas for our larger animals, along with ten specially designed Dog Gardens, each capable of housing up to ten dogs. These secure gardens will be equipped with enrichment activities to keep the dogs content. We believe that all our shelter dogs, who cannot be returned to the streets due to age, disability, or life-limiting conditions, deserve a tranquil environment to spend their remaining days.

An added advantage of relocating our permanent residents to the new shelter is that we can repurpose their previous space into new rehabilitation kennels for paralysed dogs, who require extra room and sandpits for their physical therapy. This will, in turn, free up kennel space to expand our Anti-Rabies & Sterilization Project.

This project already sterilises all the rescue dogs we treat, along with an additional 3,000 dogs each year. However, with more kennel space available at the hospital, we can increase these numbers and create an even greater positive impact for all street dogs.

The cost to build one of the ten dog gardens is £3,554. If you are interesting in sponsoring a garden, or fundraising to help, please get in touch with our UK Manager Clara to discuss at clara@tolfa.org.uk
